Get to know the OBS Team working hard behind the scenes!

This is Lauren Martin, our Trusts & Foundations Officer.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your background.

I am a bassoonist, researcher, and fundraiser based in Manchester. I am going into the third year of my PhD where I am commissioning new music and exploring the role of gender in collaboration and improvisation. Before undertaking this research, I completed my undergraduate degree in music from the University of Manchester before studying for a masters in performance at the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles.

How long have you been working with OBS and what has been a highlight?

I have been working with OBS for three years. A highlight has been getting to compile all the wonderful work and performances that OBS do when we put in a bid for a grant.

What do you enjoy most about working with OBS?

It is always lovely to see what performances our scholars are working on or how a concert series goes from being in a grant proposal to a concert venue!

What do you like to do in your free time?

I really enjoy playing games, practicing and tap class!
