Get to know the OBS Team working hard behind the scenes!
This is Nathan Peter Grassi, our Concert Manager.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your background.
Originally from Western Australia, I have been working in various areas of the arts since moving to Oxford: producing and directing for award-winning small theatre companies, as well as ticketing, site-specific front-of-house management, performing, theatre-making, and hosting. Since 2015, I have been the administrator for the Centre on Migration, Policy & Society at the University of Oxford.
How long have you been working with OBS and what has been a highlight?
I’m entering my sixth year as Concert Manager with Oxford Bach Soloists. I remember, I began on a stormy Sunday in January 2020! The highlights for me are the exceptional Oxford venues where we hold our concerts.
What do you enjoy most about working with OBS?
One of my favourite things will always be hearing the glowing compliments about the performance from delighted audience members as they leave.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Wherever possible, I can be found performing, rehearsing, or taking a dance lesson (tap, if you’re wondering). In my “spare” time, I enjoy going to the theatre and being an audience member.
Is there anything else you’d like to mention, talk about, plug, etc?
As a decidedly non-musical person, being part of the OBS concerts almost feels like a second-hand education in classical music. There are worse ways to spend an afternoon than listening to beautiful music in an extraordinary venue.
